When playing with Whimsy Fundamentals I chose to challenge myself and create a layout using our baby girl complements and the "girly" colors from the Whimsy Paper, but to design a layout not for babies!

The funny thing is...it was easy! The complements are created with baby girl in mind, but it was easy to transform them into something else! This set is truly AH-MAZING!!!

The baby girl complements used in this layout feature four sticker sheets, gold and white vellum die-cuts and gold glitter die-cuts. Additionally, I used gold sequins and bitty sparkles for added bling!

As you can tell, the whimsy fundamental paper line is very versatile, and the colors can be toned down or up depending on how you use them. In this particular layout I chose to use the washed out colors, and added some ribbon from the whimsy ribbon pack to make the colors explode from the page!

Rainbow Shimmer Trim

As I have stated many, many times before, I use Shimmer Trim like it's going out of style! It is truly the perfect embellishment for any crafter!!

You can use it for boys, girls, pets...you name it, I have probably used it in a layout or project!

In this project I used Close to My Heart White Shimmer Trim, cut with Non-stick Micro-tip scissors, and colored with Shinhan alcohol markers. The shimmer trim has it's own self-adhesive just like tape, which allows for easy use on any crafts.

A few quick tips:

Tip #1: Using alcohol or permanent markers is the best way to do this. I have used regular water based markers before to try it out for a customer and found that it works, but you have to rub off the excess because it won't dry on its own without smearing.

Tip #2: I promise you will want to try our non-stick micro-tip scissors for yourself. I can cut glue-dots, pop-dots, stickers, shimmer trim and anything else that is sticky without it actually sticking to the scissors!!!! It's the best thing since sliced bread! haha

Tip #3: Before you cut your length of shimmer trim, peel off the layer of plastic covering the self-adhesive and then cut just the shimmer trim. This will leave a "tail" of plastic on your spool making it easier to peel off next time.

Shinhan Colors Used:

Peony Purple, Marigold, Golden Yellow, Peacock Green, Vivid Green, & Tender Pink

Genuine Florence Layout - WYW#1

This is one of three layouts available in our Close to My Heart Florence Workshop Your Way. What makes these workshops user friendly is how it includes everything you need; aside from your adhesive and paper-trimmer!

I had a lot of fun scrapbooking my pictures from the stable with Florence! I loved how the colors were as vibrant as my horse is quirky, but at the same time can be considered rustic!!

For my use of embellishments I let the workshop do all the "work" for me! I just followed the workshop guide in my use of the Florence Complements to help pizazz my layout!!

In my opinion the Florence Complements set is absolutely phenomenal!! Between the stickers sheets, craft embossed die-cuts, and Florence sequins I had a hard time not adding even more! The best part about all this artwork....IT'S ALL INCLUDED IN THE WORKSHOP YOUR WAY!!! Well minus my pictures, but I think you already knew that! HAHA!

Love You Lots

Whimsy Fundamentals

Using Baby Boy Complements

Recently I have absolutely fallen in LOVE with elephants. It could be due to our traditions at Texas A&M OR this little dude is just so stinkin' cute you can't help but "love him lots" (LOL)!!!

During my creative session I used our Thin 3D foam tape to pop up my elephant; this allowed him to stand above the other embellishments. In addition to this I added shimmer using our NEW Shimmer Brush to make him shine, as he is the star of my card! It was just the added cuteness he needed!!

This awesome elephant is from one of 4 sticker sheets included in the Baby Boy Complements, as well as the polka dot heart in the top right corner. Along with the sticker sheets there are white vellum and silver glitter die-cuts included in the complements; this is where the white vellum heart and silver glitter heart were pulled from.

One of the things I have really liked about this set is even though it was created with the intention of using it for babies, you can use it in so many other ways by tweaking the arrangements or adding cardstock to contrast the washed out colors.

And of course the ribbon just make this card complete! The Whimsy Ribbon Pack includes 4 ribbons, and 1 twine each containing 3 yards per spool!!! Here I used three of the ribbons stacked in order to give the card even more dimension and character.

This lovable card was created using Close to My Heart's Whimsy Fundamentals paper (24sheets/pack), Whimsy Baby Boy Complements, Whimsy Ribbon pack, Close to My Heart Shimmer Brush and lots of fun!

Best Day Ever!

Adventure Fundamentals - Layout 1

Creating this layout was so easy and such a BLAST! I truly adore the vibrant colors in our Adventure Fundamentals paper pack. Not to mention the coordinating ribbon pack, and complements are just the added pop you need to complete your projects!! In addition to the embellishments I also used our Journaling Pen to make the photos mats POP off the layout.

Using the "Best Day Ever" gold vellum complement as my title I was able to create the theme for this layout.

One of the unique aspects of our complements is that it comes with a guide on suggested groupings of embellishments within the complements set. For someone like me who does a better job of picking photos and not embellishments this was SUPER helpful! I would choose one of my favorite vellum pieces or teal glitter die-cuts and use the guide to pick the remaining embellishments!

Of course this is just personal preference, as you can certainly use them in any order you want!

Also within the Adventure complements set, are four sheets of stickers! In the photo above I choose the journal sticker, teal glitter die-cut hearts , gold vellum hearts and clear sparkles to bling up my page!

In addition to the complements I also used my favorite embellishment of ALL TIME...Shimmer Trim! It is this amazing glitter-tape created by Close to My Heart that allows for added sparkle to your projects without becoming too "girly". In this layout I thought the black shimmer trim would look the best as it contrasts with the vibrant colors!

Saving the best for last!

I can't even begin to describe how much I am absolutely head over heels for this ribbon collection!!!! Truth be told, when the new products came in my mom and I split up the paper collections to create displays, and due to the Adventure ribbon collection I called "DIBS" on playing with the Adventure Fundamentals! LOL!
